Is there a fast-track process with NZTA?

Yes,

Once you have filed your application at the NZTA agency office and paid their fee it is possible to request urgent consideration of your application.

To do this you will need to provide the Agency office with a letter setting out the reasons why your Limited licence needs to be issued urgently (including the potential consequences if it is not).

You should include your mobile phone number on the letter.

The friendly staff at your nearest NZTA agency office will then fax this (together with your application and the Court order) to NZTA for you.

(otherwise the NZTA fax number is 06 9536267).

If NZTA decide that grounds for urgency are made out then they will telephone you back that same day (if faxed to them early enough) with a reference number that you will then take back to the Agency office and you will be provided with a copy of an interim/temporary Limited licence immediately (which will have effect until you receive the plastic copy in the post).
